Nigerian governors hold crucial meeting at Aso Rock

The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) last night met at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja

It was a closed-door meeting, held at the Old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa

The meeting was presided over by the chairman of the forum, Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara state

The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) last night held a closed-door meeting at the Old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja.

The governors met ahead of today’s meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC), to be presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Among the governors in attendance were those of Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, Kwara, Kogi, Borno, Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Benue, Ondo, Bauchi, Sokoto, Plateau, Niger, Edo, Kebbi.

NAIJ.com gathered that the governors of Rivers, Ogun and Lagos states were represented by their deputies.

According to Daily Trust, the meeting was still ongoing as at 9:40pm last night.

Earlier in the day, the governors under the platform of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), held a meeting at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.

At the meeting, the APC governors stated that it is not complusory for President Muhammadu Buhari to attend FEC meetings.

President Buhari has missed the last two FEC meetings held at the Presidential Villa, raising concerns about his health.

Minister of information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, however told journalists at the State House yesterday, that the president was working from home.
