New NYSC DG Set to Assume Duties, Wednesday

Nigerian President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Brigadier General Mohammed Fada as the new Director-General (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The new NYSC DG, who has a very rich military background in management and administration, hails from Yobe state and will take over from Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim who has served as DG for three years.
According to a source who made this confirmation to Newsmen, Tuesday evening, a farewell parade will be held for the new NYSC DG at the Old parade Ground in Area 10, Abuja. This will be followed by the formal handing over ceremony to his successor at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters, Abuja.
Hear him: ‘The Federal Government has appointed a new Director-General for the NYSC; he’s Brigadier General Mohammed Fada from Yobe State. He was in NYSC on Tuesday and has been briefed by the outgoing DG, Major General Shuaibu IIbrahim.’
‘After the farewell parade, Ibrahim will come and hand over and leave. It is good that when you’re leaving, it should be tears of joy and instead of people praying, ‘let this stupid man go’ and tenure of three years will be like 20 years,’ the source said.
The outgoing DG, Shuaibu Ibrahim hails from Nassarawa Local Government Area of Nassarawa State, Nigeria. After his primary and secondary education, he attended the University of Jos where he bagged a Masters degree before obtaining a PGDE from Tai solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State and afterwards, a PhD in history from the University of Abuja.
Since his commissioning into the Nigerian Army, he has enriched his scope with different education, development and management courses. He has also risen high through various military postings and assignments. His academic achievements include being the Author of ‘The transformation of Afo (Eloyi) from the Pre-colonial to the Colonial Period’, London; Bahiti and Delila Publishers, 2017.
Apart from editing several books and journals, he has been featured in many chapters in different books. His membership of professional organizations is impressive, as well as committees and other military services.
His decorations include Forces Service Star (FSS) 2007; Meritorious Service Star (MSS) 2012; as well as Distinguished Service Star (DSS) 2018.
The outgoing DG has received numerous awards including the Chief of Army Staff Award for overall best participant for 2013 NAEC Executive Management Course; Nigerian Institute for Public Relations (NIPR) Special Recognition Award 2014; Award for Distinguished Professional Contributions to Public Services/ Fellowship FCAI by Institute of Corporate Administration; Chief of Army Staff Commendation Letter 2018, among others.
He assumed duty as the 18th Chief Executive of the National Youth Service Corps on Friday, May 10, 2019 and is happily married with children.
Having completed the hand over protocols to the new NYSC DG, Tuesday evening, Brigadier General Mohammed Fada, is expected to resume duties officially, Wednesday, by stepping into the shoes of his predecessor, Major Shuaibu Ibrahim.
