The Senate on Thursday, October 29, confirmed former Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Mixed Reactions Trail Amaechi’s Confirmation
As expected, Amaechi whose ministerial nomination has been a subject of controversy, threw up arguments among the senators which led to the PDP senators staging a walk-out led by the Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio.
The Senate president had put to the senate, comprising of the APC senators to reject or accept the ethics committee’s report which was duly rejected. His nomination afterwards was confirmed by the Senate.
As expected, Nigerians have been reacting to the outcome of the ministerial confirmation at the Plenary session of the Senate on social media.
The Senate has adjourned sitting to Tuesday, November 3.
