News sources reports have drawn the attention of the general public concerning a very sensitive issue and troubling comments made by the military of the federation over an alleged plot to overthrow the seat of the presidency while confirming their loyalty to President Buhari. “We remain loyal to President Buhari’ the statement read as they vehemently warned soldiers and politicians against any form of coup.
According to reports, the Military authorities issued a note of warning to politicians and any person within the military who might be having intentions of plotting a coup against the presidency and the nation at large.
Earlier, it was gathered that the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), on Monday, May 3rd, 2021, in a press release via its public representative, Onyema Nwachukwu, disclosed that its attention has been drawn to remarks made by Robert Clarke, a prominent role model and legal luminary who was clamoring for power to be taken from the current administration and handed over to the army.
Reacting to his statement, the executives and chiefs of the Arm Forces of the nation, dissociated themselves from such remarks, and described it as “anti-democratic” and went ahead to affirm loyalty to the current administration under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The military made their position felt in a press release to the general public where it stated that;
“The attention of the military high command has been drawn to a statement purported to have been made by one Robert Clark SAN, suggesting that current political leadership should hand over power to the military for restructuring,”
“The Nigerian Military wishes to dissociate itself from such anti-democratic utterance and position. Let it be stated categorically that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remain fully committed to the present Administration and all associated democratically elected institutions. We shall continue to remain apolitical, subordinate to the Civil Authority, firmly loyal to the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, and the 1999 Constitution as Amended.”
“We shall continue to discharge our constitutional responsibilities professionally, especially in protecting the country’s democracy, defense of the territorial integrity of the country as well as protection of lives and properties of citizens.”
Furthermore, the DHQ instructed and warned any individual or group of persons be it civilians, politicians, or military personnel against nursing such thoughts or contemplating the idea of a coup as the full retribution of the law will be carried on anyone found guilty of such crime.
“The Military High Command wishes to use this opportunity to warn misguided politicians who nurse the inordinate ambition to rule this country outside the ballot box to banish such thoughts as the military under the current leadership remain resolute in the Defence of Nigeria’s Democracy and its growth,” it said.
“We also wish to remind all military personnel that it is seriously unreasonable to even contemplate this illegality. The full wrath of the law will be brought to bear on any personnel found to collude with people having such an agenda. The current security challenges are not insurmountable.
“The Armed Forces of Nigeria in partnership with other security agencies are working assiduously to ameliorate the challenge. Nigeria will know peace again. PLEASE BE WARNED!”
