In the past few months, the Nigerian entertainment industry has been shaken by controversies that shocked fans and made sensational headlines in different tabloids.
These controversies range from the divorces to cheating allegations, rape scandal, DNA related issues and so many others.
Even though celebrities are naturally prone to controversy either because of their status or mere carelessness, the fact still remains that they will always be in the spotlight either for the good or bad reasons.
On September 3rd, fans of the legendary Tuface idibia woke up to the news that his wife, Annie idibia had called him out on social media for disrespecting their marriage by sleeping over at the house of his ex-lover, Pero. This led to Charles Idibia, elder brother to Tuface accusing Annie of assaulting Tuface and even preventing his family from visiting their home. It didn’t stop there as Charles and Annie kept going back and forth on social media in what fans described as a show of shame as such family drama had no business being made public.
Amidst this, rumours came up that the ex-lover in question, Pero was allegedly pregnant, but Tuface’s management debunked the rumour.
In his reaction, Tuface admitted that he was human and makes mistakes. He described himself as not being perfect. He has presently travelled to the USA.
As if that was not enough, two of Nigeria’s talented singers, Tiwa Savage and Seyi Shay were involved in a fight at a beauty salon in Lagos, where they threw insults at each other but were thankfully pulled apart to avoid the situation getting worse.
Seyi was said to have walked up to Tiwa to exchange pleasantries and Tiwa wasn’t too happy about Seyi coming that close because according to her, she has not forgotten how she and Victoria Kimani treated her in the past when they released their covers of Kiss Daniel’s hit song, F**k, where they both dissed Tiwa Savage.
They however seem to have settled their differences as their recent posts on Instagram show.
Tonto dikeh also had her own issues as her marriage to Olakunle Churchill hit the rocks. Her friends were happy for her when she found love again with Prince Kpokpogri.
Unfortunately, their love story turned sour as a voice note leaked online and Tonto accused Kpokpogri of being in position of sex tapes used in blackmailing ladies. She went on to mention dancer Jane Mena, alleging that Kpokpogri had sex tapes of her.
In his response however, Kpokpogri said that the reason he broke up with Tonto was her drug habit, adding that she should go for a drug test at the NDLEA if anyone doubted him. At that point, Bobrisky who was besties with Tonto siezed that period that Tonto was going through that ordeal to call her out, which led to both of them saying unprintable things to each other.
A few hours ago however, Bobrisky openly apologized to Tonto, asking her to forgive him. Tonto was yet to reply to his forgiveness plea as at the time of filing this report.
A few months ago, the seven-year marriage of Paul Okoye of the P-Square fame and his wife, Anita, crashed. Nobody saw it coming as the couple painted the perfect picture always. A petition was later to go viral where Anita filed for a divorce demanding N7.8 million as spousal support in a petition for divorce. The reason she cited for asking for a divorce was simply, irreconcilable differences.
News of the impending divorce came as a rude shock to Nigerians even though some claimed there were indications that the couple had always had domestic crisis.
In his response, Paul Okoye advised fans to mind their business and learn to respect the decision of people when it comes to their private lives.
There is also the issue of Boma and Tega of the present Big Brother Nigeria Reality show.
After the program was aired on July 20, a total of 26 housemates were ushered into the Big Brother House. Two of the housemates, Boma and Tega engaged in sexual activities which didn’t go down well with their fans and the housemates who all blamed Tega for such immorality as she is married with a child.
It was her act with Boma that got her evicted from the show because her fanbase dropped immediately after.
Her marriage was also affected and her husband was said to express his shame and disappointment at her actions on social media.
Even though Tega and Boma, after being exited claimed that the sexual activities were fake and was actually their strategy to go far in the Big Brother show, their fans were disappointed.
Tega ended up apologizing to her husband while Boma gave his apologies to his fans for meddling with a married woman on the show.
In April, veteran actor Baba Ijesha was arrested after being caught in a CCTV footage intentionally set up by comedian Damilola Adekoya aka Princess where he was assaulting the foster child of Princess who is a minor.
The matter caused ripples in the movie industry and is presently in court.
Baba ijesha however pleaded not guilty to the six-count charge leveled against him which included sexual assault by penetration and indecent treatment of a child.
His fate is presently still undecided and judgement not yet passed.
