Father of the late successful Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad has expressed his dissatisfaction at the pace of the police investigation that will unravel the true cause of the death of his son.

Recall that Mohbad, who was a former signee of Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27 in Lagos State.

On September 18, 2023 the Lagos State Police Command inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team to investigate the mysterious death of the musician.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa declared that everybody that had anything to do with the death of the late singer would be identified and will be brought to explain their level of involvement. He assured that because the police has unique access with INTERPOL, it would make their job easier.

Subsequently, controversial Lagos socialite, Naira Marley was arrested alongside Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry in respect to the death of the late singer.

On September 21, 2023 Mohbad’s body was exhumed for autopsy so as to unravel the cause of his death.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, tweeted in September 2023 that’s the police were awaiting the results of the autopsy that had been concluded.

In the meantime while speaking on Trust TV on Wednesday, Mohbad’s father disclosed that a lot of things had happened and he was not satisfied with them. He stated that he expected that after he carried mobile’s body to the police station he will be followed to search Mohbad’s house. He also lamented that he was yet to receive the autopsy report.

Hear him: ‘I am not satisfied with police investigation. When I carried Mohbad’s body to the police station, my expectation is that they would follow me to search his house or give me the police (autopsy) report which they have not given me. Those are the areas I am not satisfied with.’

He continued: ‘They should ask them questions. Through searching their phones, they would know what killed Mohbad. A lot of people were living with him. So I am not really satisfied with the investigation.’

‘We are still looking for justice….Delay can result in denial. I am begging the government to put more effort so that things can go on fine as people expect.’

As at November 2023 Hundeyin disclosed that the command was yet to receive Mohbad’s autopsy report officially even though people had been carrying rumors that the report was ready. His words: ‘The autopsy report has not been given to us. Some people have been carrying rumours that it’s ready. It’s one thing for it to be ready, it’s another thing for it to be given to us officially – that we would receive and sign a copy that we have received it. So, we don’t work with rumours, we work with facts.’

As at December 2023, Hundeyin still reiterated that the command was yet to receive the reports from the pathologists. He stated: ‘We’re not the pathologists who carried out the autopsy. When they (the pathologists) give us their report, we’ll conclude our investigation. For now, that’s what we’re waiting for. Except they want us to do guesswork, we can’t guess; we need to get the report and see the content of the result and we don’t have it yet.’14:13
