David Ibiyeomie, a televangelist and senior pastor of Salvation Ministries, has sparked arguments on social media platforms over threats he issued to Daddy Freeze, a radio personality, for criticising David Oyedepo.
In an undated video currently trending on social media, the cleric can be seen during a church service, threatening to ‘kill’ the OAP for his incessant criticism of the presiding bishop of Living Faith Church.
“Insult me, I won’t comment but insult Oyedepo… that b**tard, any day I hear you talk about him… Do they know his (Freeze’s) father? Does Daddy Freeze have a father? Who’s his father?” Ibiyeomie asked.
“That half-caste who is born by a Somalian? The day I hear him insult Oyedepo, I’ll deal with him. Oyedepo may not talk but I can’t be alive and you’d insult my father. I can’t take it.
Ibiyeomie’s strong-worded message to Freeze has however provoked a debate on social media platforms especially Twitter, where users are registering their different opinions.
While some users condemned the cleric’s outburst others argued that he is “human and has feelings”.
“Where is your Anoithing man of God? In as much I don’t agree with daddy freeze this man is not a man of God but a man of man…how can u speak In this manner from the pulpit u no even respect God. How una see am,” Samklef asked.
“If you can’t take someone insulting your father then you have no right to judge David Ibiyome for attacking Daddy Freeze who repeatedly insults David Oyedepo. Pastors are men of God not God so they have the right to address issues that hurt them,” another user said.
