Dele Farotimi, a human rights advocate, says he remains undaunted amid his trial for alleged defamation.

On December 24, Farotimi was released from the correctional centre in Ekiti state after perfecting his bail conditions.

The activist was arraigned on a 14-count charge bordering on alleged defamation. He pleaded not guilty.

The police had also accused Farotimi of “criminally defaming” Afe Babalola, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), in the book titled: ‘Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System’.

In a cryptic post on his X page on Thursday, Farotimi said he is not scared, adding that he cannot be ruined.

“Tomorrow will be ‘when we kill him’. They then use rumours to ruin him,” he wrote.

“A god that the god of thunder cannot kill. Is the power of the god of thunder not enough to destroy?

“I face no fears. I have none.”

Farotimi is currently facing trial in two courts on charges bordering on the alleged defamation of Babalola.

On December 9, the federal high court in Ekiti granted Farotimi N50 million bail with one surety, following a 12-count charge bordering on cybercrime filed by the inspector-general of police.
