Super TV CEO
By Uche Amunike
The family of the 50-year-old CEO of Super TV who was murdered in cold blood at the rented department in Lekki by his 21 year old girlfriend, Chidimma Ojukwu, has lost confidence in their lawyer. This has left them with no choice than to hire the services of a constitutional lawyer, Mike Ozekhome believing that he will bring them the justice they seek.
In a letter, which they addressed to Ozekhome, they complained that the police has shown that they lack the level of professionalism needed to bring the suspected criminals to book.
The pointedly accused the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu of being an accomplice in what looked like an attempt to protect the killers of their late brother, Usifo Ataga.
They alleged that the Ataga family did not know about the arraingment of the 21-year-old Chidimma Ojukwu original at the Chief Magistrate Court, Yaba, Lagos.
They went on to explain that during Chidimma’s first parade by the police, she confessed that she stabbed the deceased several times with a knife, while admitting that it was because she was under the influence of drugs and alcohol. She also confessed that after stabbing him to death, she withdrew the sum of N380,000  (Three hundred and eighty thousand Naira) from his account, with his ATM card.
Surprisingly, Miss Ojukwu gave a different version of her statement during what the Ataga family described as a carefully arranged TV interview, where she claimed this time, that she allegedly acted in self defense.
Another issue raised by the family in the statement is the alleged comfortable movements to the prison from the court and vice versa, surprisingly done in Uber rides.
This, they found shocking, which made them also question why the Uber rides were done without placing her in handcuffs or even attempting giving their family information that she was about to be arraigned.
In addition, the statement alleged that the man who claimed to be Chidimma’s father since the onset of the case turned out not to be her father, but her ‘Sugar Daddy’.
The same man, Disu, was also charged to court for obstructing police investigation.
The family posited that what this meant was that the police was intentionally lying about it, but the Ataga’s family considered his arrest over obstruction of police investigation and failure to report a murder crime very shocking, especially as he was granted bail with a paltry N1m (One Million Naira only) and two sureties in like sum.
They found the bail granted to all the other suspects and the conditions of bail to be funny considering that it was his heinous crime of cold-blooded murder.
They also described the Chief Magistrate, Adeola Adedayo as being surprisingly over-liberal in such a case with heinous magnitude.
They went on to condemn it in all totality, saying it was not only a slap on their faces but on the face of Justice.
They insisted it was all a cover up.
