Nigerian musicians Don Jazzy, Wizkid, Falz, and Davido have taken to their respective social media platforms to air their opinions about the suspected terrorist attack on St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo state, on Sunday, June 5, 2022.

Don Jazzy, a top music producer and record label executive, dubbed the sad incident as a crime against humanity, which should be condemned. “My heart goes out to the relatives and friends of victims of the gruesome killings in Owo, Ondo state today. This is a crime against humanity which shouldn’t be tolerated in any civil society,” he wrote.

The Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, added that “To paraphrase Senator Adeyeye’s words in the red chamber a few years ago: Every crime is local and the solutions should be locally sourced. Be that as it may, I believe a strong political will would be needed to nip these crimes in the bud so the sanctity of lives and properties can be preserved hereafter.”

Don Jazzy also campaigned for state police, saying “I also think the issue of state police should be back amongst talking points as the general elections approach. Despite the political ramifications of this as noted by critics, I think the safety of the Nigerian people should be given the utmost priority. Let’s all work together for a Nigeria that’s safe for all.”

Wizkid, who doesn’t speak so much online, shared a brief message to express his state of mind about the attack. The ‘Ojuelegba’ crooner shared two emojis, a broken heart and a Nigerian flag, which means the situation of the country has left him heartbroken.

Rapper Falz, a vocal activist, said Nigeria has become a mess. “So many different emotions, but mostly anger and absolute frustration. Sick to my stomach. Such a mess this place has become,” he shared.

Davido went spiritual by asking his followers to pray for Nigeria while asking Jesus to take control of the country. “Jesus take control …. Pray for Nigeria Rip to all the lost souls #Prayforondo,” he wrote on Twitter.

The attack reportedly claimed over 40 lives, while many other worshippers were left injured.
