Planted? Framed? Obviously Weaponized!
A Gross Abuse of Governor Soludo’s well-conceived Initiative!
30th January 2025, our State, Anambra, and indeed the entire nation, Nigeria, and the world beyond were greeted with the news blast of the arrest of one Mr. Chukwudi Tansi from Enugwu-Agidi along with a display of several guns and other weapons found in his custody. Mr. Tansi was described as a dangerous criminal, a kidnapper, and a village
terrorist who has been tormenting Enugwu-Agidi for many years.
The display of the weapons and parade of a suspect showed that a crime may have been committed. What followed next were the questioning of the suspect’s wife by the President General (PG) of Enugwu-Agidi town, Mr. Ebuka Onuorah, and the news report disseminated by PG Ebuka Onuorah linking HRM Igwe Mike Okeke, the Igwe of Enugwu-Agidi to the suspect. Then, it became obvious to anyone who is familiar with all the individuals involved that something is fishy with the whole story.
The discovery of weapons at the compound of Mr. Chukwudi Tansi was not in question. The pictures are there in plain view. The real question is how the weapons got to his house and who is the person behind this sudden crime fighting efforts in Enugwu-Agidi?
Chukwudi Tansi, the suspect and a former employee of Mr. Ebuka Onuorah, the PG, is a young man who makes poor choices and exercises poor judgment as reported by his wife. Whether or not he is a criminal is to up to the law enforcement to determine.
Enugwu-Agidi people are law abiding citizens; we believe that anyone who commits any crime must answer to the law. We do not condone any criminalities in any way, shape or form. However, in this circumstance, the whole situation presents as a set-up and a
well-conceived plan by the President-General of Enugwu-Agidi, Mr. Ebuka Onuorah, to continue his campaign of calumny against our traditional ruler, Igwe Mike Okekeuche. If you observe closely how the PG was interrogating the suspect’s wife, it became apparent that he was simply gathering information for the news media.
The President-General of Enugwu-Agidi, Mr. David Ebuka Onuorah, who is spreading this narrative, is not a reliable source because he lacks moral integrity. Mr. Ebuka Onuorah is a pathological liar; even when he tries, he who lacks the capacity to tell a simple any truth. even when he tries to do so. What has changed and led PG, Ebuka Onuorah to turn against Chukwudi Tansi, his former security guard, and caused him to accuse him of gun-running, kidnapping, and banditry?
In 2021, when Ebuka Onuorah presided over the murder of Mr. Anayo Nworah, a son of Enugwu-Agidi why was no action taken or an investigation conducted? What is the current status of the investigation of Anayo’s murder which occurred under Ebuka’s watch? Why has Ebuka Onuorah who continues to condone the incessant grabbing and illegal sale of Enugwu-Agidi lands suddenly becomes a crime fighter? These are the real questions begging for answers.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie talks about the danger of a single story. The unsuspecting readers of the story of weapons and a kidnapper in Enugwu-Agidi may have fallen victim to this danger. My goal is to set the record straight by offering the context for you to read and evaluate the accuracy of the story.
The so-called arrest of Mr. Chukwudi Tansi and the Enugwu-Agidi PG’s attempt to link him to Igwe Mike Okekeuche, Igwe Okpalariam 111 of Enugwu-Agidi in Njikoka Local Government Area is a carefully conceived plan by the PG to defame the good name of HRM Igwe MC Okekeuche.
Since Mr. Ebuka Onuorah was “imposed” on Enugwu Agidi as the PG through a spurious and sham election in December 2021, his singular mission is to malign the good name of Igwe MC Okekeuche and dethrone him – all because, Igwe Mike Okekeuche is rightly, standing in the way to stop a gang of land grabbers, who are hellbent on forcefully disposing and selling of lands belonging to widows and indigents
in our town. Mr. Ebuka Onuorah has a partner in his mission – the Enugwu-Agidi Land Grabbers Association – led by Mr. Izuchukwu Okekeonyeocha, of which the PG is a member of and provides cover for their illegal land grabbing activities. It is also on
record that Mr. Izuchukwu illegally parades himself as Igwe Ezinato (a community in Enugwu Agidi) – and with Mr. Ebuka Onuorah, perpetrating resenting as his “Onowu”.
I crave your indulgence to set the context for this story by offering a brief description of Igwe Mike C. Okekeuche as a person, a professional, and the leader of our community, Enugwu-Agidi. I will also present the profile of our PG, Mr. Ebuka Onuorah, for your comparison.
HRM Igwe Michael Chiedozie Okekeuche, was crowned the Okpalariam 111 of Enugwu-Agidi on April 4, 2017. He succeeded my late father, HRH Igwe Davidson Okafor Ikeanyi, who served Enugwu-Agidi for 33.5 as the Igwe Okpalariam 11 of Enugwu-Agidi. Before his ascension to the royal throne of Enugwu-Agidi, Igwe MC Okekeuche was a retired Director in the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation. As an American trained Accountant, he spent over three decades in the
federal civil service of Nigeria.
Igwe Okekeuche is an accomplished gentleman who is grandfather, a father, a consummate professional, a servant-leader and a devout Catholic. He is blessed with a wonderful wife in the person of Oche Eze Enugwu-Agidi, Dr. (Mrs) Chinwe Okekeuche, a retired Consultant Anesthesiologist who worked for so many years at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).
As this couple were getting ready to settle into a well-deserved retirement after their distinguished careers in the federal civil service and LUTH, respectively, they were approached by Enugwu-Agidi people to serve as our traditional monarch. This is not uncommon with the prevailing trend in the modern Igbo communities where the elites and learned are being drafted to serve their towns to ensure that their leaders are literate enough to represent them at any level.
This background information about our Monarch is necessary to underscore the fact that Enugwu-Agidi town is blessed with an accomplished couple who have devoted their lives to in serving our community. Our Igwe and Oche Eze are both accomplished
professionals who have legitimate means of livelihood and continue to live on their earned income and pensions. As a trained accountant, Igwe Mike Okekeuche lives a fulfilled, modest life. As someone who spent his career in the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation as an Auditor, he does not believe in ostentatious lifestyle or
flaunting his wealth. Igwe MC Okekeuche currently serves as the Chairman of Njikoka LGA Traditional Rulers Council.
On the other hand, Mr. Ebuka Onuorah, the President General of Enugwu-Agidi, has never held any gainful employment in his life. As a young man in his early 40’s, Ebuka Onuorah, has continued to be a menace to Enugwu-Agidi town. No one in Enugwu-Agidi can attest to what he does for a living even though he patrols the town with a fleet
of convoy made up of at least two new SUVs (Jeeps, including a brand-new Mercedes G-Wagon), Hilux truck, and armed guards. The running question in Enugwu-Agidi remains, “What does Ebuka do for a living to pay for and sustain his outlandish lifestyle?” In this era of literacy, Ebuka cannot write his full name and does not have even a secondary school certificate.
Mr. Ebuka Onuorah used violence, intimidation, and terror to force his way into the leadership of Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union (EBU-Nigeria) as our President-General.
He used a group of rented crowds to rig the town union election conducted in December 2021. and since then, he has continued his reign of terror in our beloved community.
Ebuka Onuorah is from Etiti Village, the largest village in Enugwu-Agidi. Even in Etiti, Ebuka was ostracized and excommunicated due to his highhandedness and the terror he had unleashed on people during the Etiti village meetings.
EBU-Nigeria is the umbrella body that governs Enugwu-Agidi town. EBU has branches in all the major towns in the country where Enugwu-Agidi indigenes live. EBU is governed by a constitution and elects its leadership every three-years. As per our constitution, officers of the Union must be indigenes of Enugwu-Agidi and members of the Union through their local branches. In December 2021 when Ebuka Onuorah
contested for the PG of Enugwu-Agidi, he was not a member of EBU-Nigeria.
He does not belong to any branch. Even though he was excommunicated from his own village, Ebuka Onuorah used his political connections to rig the town union election with his rented crowd and that is how he has remained the PG of Enugwu-Agidi.
Anambra State is made of 179 independent towns, and each town has a President-General (PG). The PG usually serves at the pleasure of the community. I cannot think of any town in Anambra whose PG has up to five lawsuits initiated against him by the indigenes of the town. In Enugwu-Agidi town, it is a different story. Mr. David Ebuka Onuorah has more than 33 lawsuits against him in different jurisdictions within and outside the state. Each of those cases was initiated by Enugwu-Agidi citizens based on allegations of physical molestation, harassment, intimidation and dispossession of their lands by Ebuka Onuorah. You don’t have to believe me; I invite you to investigate this claim and find out the facts for yourself.
Like so many other communities in Anambra State, Enugwu-Agidi people are not litigious in nature; we like to resolve our problems within. However, the violent tendencies of PG Ebuka Onuorah have transformed the minds of our people because everyone is at his mercy. It has gotten to a point where so many of our people who live outside the town are becoming reluctant to visit home. Yes, it is has gotten that bad! Ebuka Onuorah traffics in violence and continues to move around with armed convoy.
Who is he afraid of? How many PGs move around their communities in a convoy? What is the source of Ebuka’s means of sustaining the opulent lifestyle since he became the PG of Enugwu-Agidi in December 2021?
I cannot compete with Ebuka Onuorah in telling lies. I have a background in journalism and worked atin Daily Times of Nigeria as a Senior Sub Editor in the late 80s before moving to the USA. I offered this personal information to assure you that my account is grounded in factsfact.
I have a voice note where Ebuka Onuorah was beening counseled by a high-ranking politician and former government official in Njikoka LGA on how to us his (Ebuka’s) power as the PG of Enugwu-Agidi to destabilize Igwe Okekeuche’s cabinet by removing Igwe’s Onowu, Dr. Osita Anameze, and to frame Igwe as a partisan member of APC
who is against the current APGA’s government in Anambra State. I will wait for Mr. Ebuka Onuorah’s denial before I release the voice note. Using the instrument of the office of the PG, Mr. Ebuka Onuorah perpetuated an illegal removal of ourthe Onowu.
And for this illegal action, the state government had to issue him a letter warning him to desist from illegally meddling with the affair of the throne.
These punitive actions of the PG against our Igwe begs the question in the mind of an average readers, “Why is the PG targeting Igwe Okekeuche?” The answer is obvious. Igwe MC Okekeuche is the only buffer between the Enugwu-Agidi Land Grabbers Association and the average Enugwu-Agidi citizens. The Land Grabbers led by one Mr.
Izuchukwu Okekeonyeocha (Alias Igwe Ezinato) are the business associates of our PG, Ebuka Onuorah. They are engaged in “agbata ekee” business. While Izuchukwu brings in bulldozers to grab and clear hectares of lands belonging to helpless indigenes, Ebuka Onuorah provides the necessary cover and color of authority for Izuchukwu to operate.
As the last hope of the common Enugwu-Agidi citizen, HRM Igwe Mike Okekeuche, has petitioned the government on several occasions for help in our fight against the land grabbers, but unfortunately, nothing has been done. Whenever he initiates an arrest of Izuchukwu Okekeonyeocha for the litany of his crimes, PG Ebuka Onuorah would
intervene and use his power as the PG to secure Izuchukwu’s release.
The above is the current situation in Enugwu-Agidi town. While the PG works and serves the interest of the land grabbers who are selling off Enugwu-Agidi lands, Igwe MC Okekeuche has continued to fight for the community.
With the launching of Operation Udo Ga Achi, a noble initiative by Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, our PG, Ebuka Onuorah, wants to capitalize on this operation as a tool to fight his enemies, particularly, our traditional ruler, Igwe Okekeuche. Over sightedly, it could be possible that the current law which empowers the PG to assist in fighting crimes with each community may not have clarified the role of the Igwes in the effort.
Consequently, PG Ebuka Onuorah has decided to weaponize the law by using it to frame Igwe Okekeuche as someone who condones crime and/or associates with criminals. Nothing could be further from the truth. No one who knows Igwe M.C.
Okekeuche as a grandfather, a father, a husband, a professional, the traditional ruler of Enugwu-Agidi, and a devout Catholic Christian would associate him with anything criminal. The recent efforts by Ebuka Onuorah who is on a perennial mission to dethrone Igwe Okekeuche, the Okpalariam 111 of Enugwu-Agidi will fail just like the numerous attempts he has made to humiliate and get him arrested.
Just last October 2024, a group of armed thugs working for the Enugwu-Agidi Land Grabbers Association under the leadership of Izuchukwu Okekeonyeoacha removed the ₦6 million Naira gate built by Enugwu-Agidi Stakeholders Forum (ESF) at the boundary of Enugwu-Agidi and Amawbia Town. This gate was being constructed for the
sole purpose of monitoring the movement of traffic and people coming into our town for security purposes. The leadership of ESF approached Mr. Ebuka Onuorah for assistance in fishing out the culprits, but Ebuka Onuorah did absolutely nothing. Why? Because he does want to antagonize his business partner, Izuchukwu Okekeonyeocha, the land grabber, who uses the same road to bring in bulldozers for his land grabbing menace.
However, Ebuka Onuorah has beenwas quick to arrange for the so-called raid at the house of Mr. Chukwudi Tansi as a response to Governor Soludo’s initiative. Who is fooling who? As I stated at the beginning of this piece, Mr. Chukwudi Tansi, once worked as Ebuka Onuorah’s security guard. What has gone wrong between the two?
What is the current bone of contention between the two? Did Ebuka ask Chukwudi to carry out any nefarious actions that he declined hence this set up?
I maintain that the Governor’s Operation Udo Ga Achi is a step in the right direction, and we are confident that it will usher in enduringin enduring security and peace in Enugwu-Agidi. Our hope is that this Initiative will shine the much-needed light of the law enforcement operatives into the ongoing vibrant land grabbing banditry in Enugwu-Agidi which would ultimately liberate Enugwu-Agidi once and for all.
On behalf of the good people of Enugwu-Agidi, I wish to appeal to His Excellency, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, to set up an independent investigative team to go around Enugwu-Agidi and make inquiries about the character of Ebuka Onuorah, the activities of his friends and associates, including the Enugwu-Agidi Land Grabbers Association
led by Izuchukwu Okekeonyeocha, a former tipper driver who became a billionaire overnight by selling off Enugwu-Agidi lands.
The current situation in Enugwu-Agidi deserves urgent attention from Anambra State Government because Enugwu-Agidi remains unsafe in the hands of our PG, Mr. Ebuka Onuorah, and his criminal tendencies should be fully investigated starting with the 33 court cases he has in various jurisdiction.
