Dele Alake, special adviser to the president on special duties, communication, and strategy, said the address will be broadcast at 7pm on Monday.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will make a broadcast to the nation on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 7pm,” he said.
“Television, radio stations and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast.”
The broadcast may not be unconnected to ballooning inflation and economic hardship caused by the removal of subsidy on petrol.
Speaking recently while receiving All Progressives Congress’ (APC) youth leaders from across the country, Tinubu said he feels the pains of citizens and assured them that the hardships of the moment will give way to a more “prosperous, equitable and inclusive economy”.
“I can assure you that I understand the pains you are going through. It is not easy to get out of the monster of over 40 years called fuel subsidy,” he said.
On another occasion, the president had assured that the federal government is working on measures to ease the effect of petrol subsidy removal on the masses.
“We shall without delay cushion the pains being experienced by our people as a result of these measures through a number of well targeted interventions aimed at giving adequate relief and succour to a great number of our long- suffering citizens,” Tinubu said.
