A group under the aegis of the Network for Tinubu has asked all presidential aspirants in the southwest to allow the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu have the presidential ticket of the party ahead of the 2023 presidential election, stressing that it was a a way to pay him back for the sacrifices he made for the country.
Speaking, during the inauguration of the group on Monday in Akure, the convener of the group, Mr Femi Adekanmbi said that the group was made up of not less than 1,000 members and delegates from each of the 18 local government areas of Ondo state which shows that they’re ready to give their support for Tinubu’s Presidential ambition.
Hear him: ‘Today marks the revolutionary movement for Tinubu who is a benefactor to many. He is a man I know too well. He has assisted most politicians today and that is why we are rooting for him.
‘For us, this is the time to pay Tinubu back for what he has done for us as far as Ondo State and South-West is concerned. We have our people at the various local government areas and in each of the wards. In each local government, our members and delegates who are rooting for Bola Ahmed Tinubu are up to 1,000’.
He described Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu as the best candidate for the job, while asking Southwest Presidential aspirants to wait for their turn and allow him get the tickets ahead of the 2013 Presidential election.
He added that their reason for assembling in the first place s to see that he wins 100%, not just in Ondo state, but all over the nation.
He maintained that Ashiwaju was the only one that stood the chance to take Nigeria to greater heights and the only one who has what it takes to do the job of President.
The Director-General of the group, Mr Tolu Babaleye stated that Lagos State will be shut down for the former Lagos State governor and APC National Chairman, while adding that Nigeria and APC are what they are today because of Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu who toiled day and night and spent his resources to the detriment of his family and business at the time when the people who are aspiring to take that position today, showed no interest in building the state.
Relatively, a former member of the House of Representatives who also sits as the Director-General of the Tinubu Support Group, Abdulmumin Jibrin, averred that Nigerians are more interested in the quality of persons to take over public offices, noting that even though there are thousands of Tinubu Support Groups (TSG) nationwide, the TSG that he heads, performs the task of coordinating and supervising the other numerous groups.
He added that the issue of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu contesting was a done deal because Nigerians need someone who will improve on what is already on ground and revamp the economy while increasing every aspect of the country and initiating progress and development.
