Eight months into the ASUU strike, resumption dates and school calendars have been announced, Friday, by the Federal University, Dutse (FUD), Jigawa State, University of Ibadan (UI), University of Nigeria Nsukka, Obaseki Awolowo University (OAU) and several others.
Spokesman of the Federal University, Dutse (FUD), Abdullahi Bello, stated that full academic activities will start 31st October for returning students.
According to him, the FUD Senate gave approval for the resumption date during it’s 55th emergency meeting on Wednesday and averred that they were putting all hands on deck to see that after the long ASUU strike, resumption date announce by the school will not be stopped by any hitches whatsoever.
Chief Security Officer of the school, Abubakar Sadiq also said that the overgrown bushes in the school have been cut by its personnel in readiness of the school resumption and that a holding cell has also been constructed to keep students fomenting trouble on campus, those found which dangerous weapons in their possession or members of cult groups in check.
He however stated that students won’t be held in the cell for more than two hours before being handed over to the police.
In order to have better surveillance in the institution, the security unit of the institution has also acquired two patrol motorcycles.
His words: ‘Our men (security personnel) are fully on top of the situation, we have all the necessary things in place to secure the school’s premises and the management has also approved the new uniforms for the security personnel’.

On their part, the University of Ibadan (UI), has said that they would resume Monday, through a statement released by the Registrar and Secretary to the institution’s council, Mrs Olubunmi Faluyi.
According to her, after a prolonged stay at home caused by the ASUU strike, resumption date for UI approved by the institution’s Senate is Monday, October 24, 2022 as agreed during a meeting held on October 17, 2022.
The halls of residence, she said, will be open as from Sunday, October 23, 2022. She wished the returning students journey mercies on behalf of the Council and Senate as they all return to campus.
The Acting Registrar of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Dr. A.N. Egbosionu has also announced their resumption date to be October 22, 2022, while the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has released their date resumption date for October 20,2022.
