Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has urged President Bola Tinubu to wash his hands off the case of the agitator by setting him free.
Ejimakor was reacting to revelations that former President Muhammadu Buhari prevented his government from assassinating Kanu.
Buhari’s former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said the immediate past President opted for Kanu’s arrest instead of assassination as proposed by some government officials.
However, Ejimakor said Adesina’s revelation shows that Kanu was never meant to get a fair trial in Nigeria.
Posting on X, the lawyer wrote: “Buhari’s self-confessed plot to assassinate MAZI NNAMDI KANU underscores the lingering notion that #MNK was never meant to get a fair trial in Nigeria.
“That’s why they resorted to extraordinary rendition & illegal detention. President Tinubu should wash his hands off & #FreeMNK.”
