Unveiling Steps a BIMS TETFUND Beneficiary Should Take for Successful Activation

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), unveiled a Beneficiary Identity Management Service (BIMS) which is created to aid beneficiaries in simplifying and enhancing the identification and management of students and lecturers across different institutions in the country.

Speaking during an educational summit held recently in Abuja, the Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, explained that the platform is a convergence of world-class and globally renowned educational resources, which are aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s higher education landscape.

According to him, BIMS is structured to revolutionize the manner in which students access educational services and more, as a gateway for accrediting and authorizing the access to the Tertiary Education Research Applications and Services platform (TERAS).

TERAS, he said, promises to offer countless benefits  which educators, students and the entire educational community should fully exploit. These benefits include Personalized learning experiences; Enhanced data security and accuracy; Access to tailored educational services; Streamlined enrollment and identification processes; As well as an improved communication between students and educational institutions.

On his part, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Sonny Echono, explained the historical significance of the TERAS platform, which was created as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic challenges. He explained that the platform was carefully designed to integrate different essential components. He also explained that the component at its core is the BIMS platform.

He further highlighted a step-by-step guide on how a BIMS TETFUND beneficiary can access the platform and successfully activate  it.

They are as follows: The first thing a BIMS TETfund beneficiary should do to activate their BIMS ID is to reach out to the Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), at their educational institution. He will be the one to guide the beneficiary through the process and provide all the important information with which to proceed.

Immediately, the institution provides the beneficiary access into the BIMS system, they will receive an e-mail that contains their  BIMS ID, e-mail address and the password details. These should be kept safe because they are the keys for unlocking a host of services offered by TETFUND .

With the login details at hand, the next step would be to visit the BIMS website at Bims.tetfund.gov.ng, which is where the BIMS ID and password is entered to assess the beneficiary’s account.

It is important to provide every necessary information in order to fully utilize the BIMS system. The next step is to update the beneficiary’s profile with the right details, including address and phone number. This will help in ensuring that the beneficiary receives important notifications and also have a seamless experience within the BIMS ecosystem.

The next step would be for the beneficiary to consider changing their password to something more favorable as an extra security measure. A unique and strong password is important for protecting the account from unauthorized access.

As soon as the account has been successfully registered and activated, the BIMS TETFund beneficiary has automatic access to a wide range of incredible services offered by TETFund. These services can make their educational journey simple and their academic experience, very improved.
