The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election in Lagos State, Dr. AbdulAzeez Olajide Adediran, popularly called JANDOR, has announced his exit from the party, stating that he made the decision after deep reflection and extensive consultations with his family, political associates, and supporters.
The former PDP governorship candidate made this known on Monday at a press conference he held at his office in Ikeja, Lagos. However, he stated that he and his teeming supporters, who were present at the event, had yet to decide which party to join next.
According to him, he and his committed supporters would engage with stakeholders and well-meaning Nigerians to determine the next course of action that best serves the interests of Lagosians.
Giving reasons for leaving the main opposition PDP, Dr. Adediran cited the conspiracy among party leaders to ensure his defeat in the 2023 election, stating that some of them openly campaigned against him and the PDP presidential candidate in the same election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
He said this was on record, recalling that a few days after the election, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadir Obafemi Hamzat, revealed to Lagosians and Nigerians on television that the PDP couldn’t have won the election “because most of the leaders of the party worked against us.”
JANDOR said the Lagos State deputy governor mentioned the names of leaders who left the party to work for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), “including the Presidential Campaign Committee Chairman in the state, Mr. Adedeji Doherty.”
