2021 UTME: Nigeria’s 10 Best Listed, Aidelogie Lauded

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB has released her 10 best candidates for the 2021 session of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination , UTME.

The best overall candidate is Monwuba Chibuikem who scored 358 out of the total 400 marks in Lagos State.

This was disclosed in a statement released during its policy meeting under the chairmanship of the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.

On their parts, Qomarudeen Alabi from Osun state and Adeogun Oreoluwa of Ogun state, both scored 350 marks each, making them jointly come second positions.

In Lagos, Ajayi Isaiah scored 349, just as Okarike Kenneth from Rivers state took the fifth position with 348 marks.

Three candidates clinched the sixth positions with a 347 score. They are Omonona Victor of Oyo state, Owoeye Oluwatimilehin of Ekiti state and Ehizogie Aidelogie of Edo state.

Another three candidates clinched the 10th positions. Ajeigbo Samuel, also of Ekiti state scored 346 marks while Yakubu Joshua of Edo state scored 343 marks, completing the top 10 list.

In all, there are nine male candidates and a female candidate in the top 10 list. All 10 candidates applied for science courses and Engineering.

Meanwhile, the governor of Edo state,  Godwin Obaseki has already received the state’s best candidate,  Ehizogie Jeffrey Aidelogie, over the weekend.

Obaseki lauded not just Aidelogie, but also the management of Saint Michael College in Ikhueniro, Benin for the exceptional performance.

He mentioned that his government was encouraged by the sterling performance of the young Aidelogie, especially as one of the areas that his government gave top priority remained Education.

He went on to say that his government is presently investing in the core foundational stage of education with the Edo Basic Education Sector Transformation, EdoBest programme.

He further stated that they were scaling EdoBest to both Junior and Senior Secondary Schools, as well as technical schools.

Former governor of Cross River state, Donald Duke, who was also present assured Aidelogie that a lot of people are proud of his  accomplishment.

Aidelogie, who scored 347 marks was among the first 10 best candidates in the 2021 UTME.

In response, the humbled Aidelogie said that he was able to perform outstandingly because of hardwork and support from his teachers, classmates and parents. He promised the state governor that he will continue to be an ambassador of Edo state wherever he found himself.

Meanwhile, according to the JAMB Registrar, five of the best candidates chose to attend Covenant University in Otta, Ogun state, owned by Pastor David Oyedepo.

Aside from the best overall candidate, Master Chibuikem, all four others, Victor, Oluwatimilehin, Samuel and the only female in the list, Miss Favour, all made the choice of Covenant University.

Alabi, who came second, chose the Obafemi Awolowo University while Oreoluwa chose the University of Lagos.

Only one candidate chose to study Mathematics with another for Computer Science. All remaining 8 candidates went for engineering courses including Electrical and Electronics, Mechatronics,  Chemical, Mechanical and Computer Engineering.
